Lunar descent / Correct, observe, adjust

Soft Landing

Classic Lunar Lander · Balancing feedback loop

Thrust slows your descent, but can also send you back up. Finding just enough is the challenge.

Land safely with a downward touchdown speed no greater than 2.5 m/s. Choose thrust and duration, then send a command. The game pauses after each command; fast reactions are not required.

Thrust points up; gravity pulls down. Try a command and watch the speed change.

Correct with care.

Watch descent speed first. More thrust slows the fall but does not stop it instantly.

Goal: gentle touchdown↓Observe: altitude + speed↓Adjust thrust, then check the result↺

Losing altitude can be useful; increasing speed may mean you are running out of braking room. Watch more than one number.

How do the rules and instruments work?

↓ means descending; ↑ means ascending. Thrust changes acceleration rather than speed instantly. After fuel runs out, thrust stops working and gravity still acts.

Full thrust uses 2 fuel units per second; 60% uses 1.2; 30% uses 0.6. Time does not pass without a command. You can undo, restart or change levels freely.

Inspired by early stepwise lunar landers, with six independently configured levels. This simplified vertical flight model assumes constant mass; it does not simulate a real space mission.
